2020-2021 Board Members

I am so excited to serve as the Key Club President this year! I hope that through these unprecedented times that we can continue to encourage acts of community service through this difficult time, as that is what could be demonstrated throughout the existence of Key Club. A few things I hope I am able to bring this year are engaging more with our K-Kids clubs and creating more unique service opportunities that have a majority of our club members interest while also making an impact on our home, school, and community! - Madison

I joined Key Club because I want to help our community. I hope to be able to make Key Club a stronger club with as many involved students as possible. One of my main goals would be to raise money for other organizations, such as the Multiple Sclerosis Organization, in addition to the ones we already work with. I would also like to work with the younger kids in our district as well as others to help them and/or get them interested in helping their community. - Laura

I joined Key Club because I absolutely love helping people. I've loved it all of my life and I want my future profession to have a strong emphasis in helping others. Key Club really gives me the opportunities to do this in a wide range of service activities. My hope for the club this year is that we are able to add even more service opportunities and find new ways to serve our community.    -Hazel

I really wanted to get into key club because I like helping people and I like what the club stands for, all of the members really care . I am the treasurer of key club and I really enjoyed being a part of The club my freshman year and I am enjoying it so much so far as a sophomore.  They support great foundations and have lots of opportunities for high school students, I look forward to being a part of the club my final years of high school. - Laney

Key club for me is an opportunity where I can help other people in my community and the communities around me. Even though 2020 has been challenging and has limited our service opportunities and events, I really hope to help provide as many service opportunities as possible to club members to get us all back on track! Personally I love helping people it doesn’t matter where I am or who it is, i’ve always just found myself wanting to do more for people who need it the most and by joining Key Club it was a perfect opportunity for me to help my community and be surrounded with people with similar ideals. - Madison

When I was in high school (eons ago), there was a Key Club (boys only), and Kiwanis (girls only), but I had no idea what they were all about.  It wasn't until years later, when my parents joined the local Kiwanis Club, that I learned more about the club, and it's purpose.  When my mom became the first woman president of the Kiwanis Club of Tustin, I joined the club as well.  A few years later I was teaching at a middle school in Orange County, and after my students showed an interest in service, I started a "Builders Club", who participated in community service activities all over the county.  It was during this time that I recognized the power of serving others.  In 2010, I was working here at Minarets as the "English Nurse", and held a meeting to see if any students might be interested in starting a Key Club.  Over 40 students attended that meeting - keep in mind we only less than 200 students on campus at that time.  The Minarets High School Key Club was chartered in November 2011, and the rest is history!  Key Club is a place for anyone who wants to help, and serve others.  We have members who are intelligent, empathetic, caring human beings.  They come from all over the mountain area, Fresno, Madera, and Clovis.  Some of our members are involved in music, art, sports, CSF, NHS, FFA, and other areas.  The one thing they have in common is they live the Key Club motto, "Caring - Our Way of Life".  Key Club is all about relationships!  We will be selling "Boo Grams" once again this year, although it will be online, and treats will be mailed to the recipients. Another goal is to become more involved in our Division, have a newsletter, and a website (thanks to Janine!).  I also hope that we will be able to attend the District Convention in the spring.  We will continue to care for others, as we move through the ups and downs of living in a world affected by a pandemic and destructive fires. - Therese
